PAiN - DOSBox Demo Compatibility List

category: general [glöplog]

Yes, I'm talking about this compatibility list: http://pain.scene.org/service_dosbox.php

I tried about 10 prods yesterday an none of them ran perfect, as it was meant to according to the comments in the list.

Has someone the right config files or tricks how to run it with full speed and no errors?

btw, why not adding config files for some fronted to the list?

freeze: probably there were major changes in the dosbox-software? you tried the version given in the list? if yes, it's about tweaking i guess.. i never evaluated the prods myself (at least not all of them) so it's possible that the comments are wrong/too subjective.

makc: sure, can be done. however, i don't really feel like upgrading the list in any way. if somebody would like to take it over, i'm open for it.

scamp, unlock: Thanks a lot!

Actually I indeed tested it with DOSBox 0.60 (not the up-to-date 0.63) since I want to include those DOS demos to the port of DOSBox for yet another system, which unfortunately bases on version 0.60.

freeze: 'aight, this explains a lot. dosbox went trough A LOT of changes from version 0.60 to 0.63, especially when it comes to demos. the GUS-emulation, for example, was especially trimmed to sound best with Second Reality ;-) and there have been very noticable changes in other parts too, which you can also see when you look at those entries in the list having the same demo tested with a different version of dosbox. i think some of the more simple demos run well on 0.60 too (maybe the realtech stuff?)
